Nature’s Nest is a preschool for children aged 3-5. Thus, if you have a child in half-day kindergarten and would like to further enrich their education, they are welcome to attend. Your child must be 3 years old by the beginning of the school year (Sept 1st).

Please dress your child in weather appropriate clothing for drop off each morning and a good pair of shoes for walking. Have all of your child’s items labeled with their name. On sunny days, sunscreen should be put on prior to arriving at preschool. Send your child with a backpack that includes a change of clothing in a large zip lock bag, a small snack, and a water bottle. The teacher will have a wagon for backpacks. Dress your child appropriately for indoor play as we get messy with paint, glue, and other materials. Be sure your child is wearing clothing that allows them to easily use the toilet.

In the case of a minor bathroom accident, your child will quietly be changed into their spare change of clothes and will be supported and made comfortable. In the case of a major bathroom accident, the teacher will do what she can and you will be called, or one of your emergency contacts will be called if you cannot be reached.

Please be on time for both drop off and pick up. For drop off, please park in front of the preschool and walk through to the backyard. The class will be waiting in the forest behind the preschool to begin the days scheduled outdoor education. Be sure to say goodbye to your child before leaving and that the teacher has acknowledged your child before you go. When you arrive for pick up, please wait in the front entranceway until the indoor program is complete and your child comes to greet you. In extreme weather, both drop off and pick up will be in the front entranceway. You will be notified in advance of such circumstances.

Sniffles are often unavoidable for the duration of a school year. Severely sick children, however, are the responsibility of their parent/guardian and should not be taken to preschool. The child must be free of fever or symptoms of diarrhea or vomiting for at least 24 hours before returning to preschool.

All COVID protocols and procedures are being followed as laid out by the Government of Alberta. Please go through the screening checklist provided by the Rocky View School Board prior to sending your child.

Nature’s Nest Preschool will follow the Rocky View School Board Calendar. This includes no classes during Christmas/Easter Break, PD Days, and Statutory Holidays. In the event that Rocky View closes their schools (e.g. inclement weather), Nature’s Nest Preschool will also close and you will receive the $30 refund by email money transfer that day.

The school telephone number is 403-700-9969. During class time, please text instead of calling as the teacher will be working with your child. In the case of an emergency, late pick up, or an alternative individual picking up your child, you may call during class time. Alternative individuals picking up children must have written permission from the parent/guardian and present photo ID upon arrival. Phone calls placed during class time will either be answered right away or the teacher will check for a message when she is able. Please only use this number between 8am and 5pm Monday-Friday.
