Teslin Holmes holds her Level 1 Child Care Certificate through the Government of Alberta, a Master’s Degree in Biology from the University of Alberta, and an enthusiastic spirit to inspire an interest in learning through outdoor engagement. She is currently completing her Forest and Nature School Practitioners Course through Child and Nature Alliance of Canada.
Teslin has been in the childcare and education field for 8 years working with children between the ages of 1-8. She began her journey with Child Development Dayhomes of Alberta and continued her childcare and educational programming with Playdays Agency of Cochrane.
Teslin lives in Cochrane with her husband and three young school-aged children. She is passionate about the natural world around us and pursuing a healthy and active lifestyle. She uses her background in biology to help the children learn and explore all the wonders nature has to offer. As a second-generation biologist, Teslin grew up in the outdoors often following in the footsteps of her mother, a conservation biologist, and her father, a fish biologist.
In her early adult life, Teslin was always interested in mentoring children and youth, pursuing jobs as a ski coach, swim instructor, and outdoor educator of grade 5 and 11 school groups. Currently Teslin’s favourite activities include hiking, camping, paddle boarding, and skiing as well as inspiring others to embrace and enjoy nature. Perhaps her most inspiring quality when interacting with children is her enthusiasm to sing, play, and story tell to help children explore their interests and reach their full potential.
